Skin tumors
Skin tumours develop as a result of proliferation of a single or multiple components of the skin. Common causes of skin tumours/lumps include: Lipomas, sebaceous cyst, and rarely malignancies. Lipomas are fatty lumps under the skin. Cysts, a closed sac in or under the skin that is lined with skin tissue and contains fluid or semisolid material. Rarely, skin tumours may be of malignant or cancerous in nature. A recent change in size, shape or ulceration, itching or blood discharge in a pre-existing nevus or mole should raise suspicion of such grave prognosis and it should be removed. A proper workup, like radiological scans or skin biopsy followed by excision is done by our expert dermatosurgeons. PRP therapy for baldness
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is an autologous preparation of platelets in concentrated plasma. PRP therapy for hair loss is a three-step medical treatment in which a person’s blood is drawn, processed, and then injected into the scalp. Activation of alpha granules of platelets releases numerous proteins, including platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), transforming growth factor (TGF), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), insulin-like growth factor (IGF), epidermal growth factor (EGF) and interleukin (IL)-1. It is hypothesised that growth factors released from platelets may act on stem cells in the bulge area of the follicles, stimulating the development of new follicles and promoting neovascularization. Eczema
Atopic dermatitis (eczema) is a condition that causes dry, itchy and inflamed skin. It's common in young children but can occur at any age. Atopic dermatitis is long lasting (chronic) and tends to flare sometimes. It can be irritating but it's not contagious. In some people, atopic dermatitis is related to a gene variation that affects the skin's ability to provide protection. With a weak barrier function, the skin is less able to retain moisture and protect against bacteria, irritants, allergens and environmental factors — such as tobacco smoke. There are treatments to control eczema which even reverse the associated damage happened to the skin. Baldness typically refers to excessive hair loss from your scalp. Hereditary hair loss with age is the most common cause of baldness. Hair loss affects millions of men and women. Others may cover it up with hairstyles, makeup, hats or scarves. And still, others choose one of the treatments available to prevent further hair loss or restore growth. Scars
Skin is a seamless organ, like a fine cloth protecting valuable assets. Imagine a piece of silk. Just one small tear can make a big difference in how it looks. And it's the same with skin. Any burn, injury, or other trauma, such as surgery, can cause a scar. A scar isn't bad if it's small or in a location that's easy to conceal. But when it's not, you may wonder if there's a way to treat it, other than hiding it under your clothes, that will make it go away or at least change how it looks. The truth is the scar will never completely go away. But there are some methods that can help reduce its size and change its appearance. We employ surgical option, scar remodeling injections, and laser resurfacing to improve the appearance of unsightly scars. Vitiligo Surgery
Depigmented patches in vitiligo, a common dermatosis, cause a great psychological distress to the patients. Hence, apart from halting the disease process, the strategies to impart normal skin colour to these white patches carry an important role in the management of vitiligo. Surgical procedures are often required for stable vitiligo lesions not responding to medical therapies. It involves "shuffling" of melanocytes from the pigmented skin to the depigmented areas. During the last fifty years, the vitiligo surgery has evolved from tissue transplantation via cellular transplantation to reach a stage where the use of stem cells or immunomodulatory cells is contemplating. We are one of the few centres in South India doing various vitiligo surgery options from tissue grafts (micropunch grafts, suction blister grafts), cellular grafts (melanocyte-keratinocyte transplantation) to stem cell grafts (NCES+FCS method). Dr Razmi is a pioneer in stem cell grafts using skin melanocytes and hair follicle stem cells (NCES+FCS technique) and he has published his clinical trial outcome on this new technique in the prestigious American Medical Association Journal of Dermatology. Hair Reduction Laser
Laser hair reduction is a non-invasive procedure by which unwanted hair is removed from any part of the body by utilizing a long-pulsed laser. The laser parameters are carefully defined by studying the anatomy of the hair follicle and precisely matching the laser light and pulse duration to the follicle size, depth, and location to inhibit the re-growth of the hair. During laser hair removal, a laser emits a light that is absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in the hair. The light energy is converted to heat, which damages the tube-shaped sacs within the skin (hair follicles) that produce hairs. This damage inhibits or delays future hair growth. Although laser hair removal effectively delays hair growth for long periods, it usually doesn't result in permanent hair removal. Multiple laser hair removal treatments are needed for initial hair removal, and maintenance treatments might be needed as well. Laser hair removal is most effective for people who have light skin and dark hair, but it can be successfully used on all skin types. We use latest triple wavelength laser technology which is suitable for all types of skin. Our US-FDA approved laser machine is highly efficacious to remove even difficult to treat hairs. Vitiligo
Vitiligo is a chronic (long-lasting) autoimmune disorder that causes patches of skin to lose pigment or color. This happens when melanocytes – skin cells that make pigment – are attacked and destroyed, causing the skin to turn a milky-white color. People with vitiligo may be more likely to develop other autoimmune disorders as well. A person with vitiligo occasionally may have family members who also have the disease. In vitiligo, the white patches usually appear symmetrically on both sides of your body, such as on both hands or both knees. Sometimes, there can be a rapid loss of color or pigment and even cover a large area. The segmental subtype of vitiligo is much less common and happens when the white patches are only on one segment or side of your body, such as a leg, one side of the face, or arm. This type of vitiligo often begins at an early age and progresses for 6 to 12 months and then usually stops. Although there is no cure for vitiligo, treatments can be very effective at stopping the progression and reversing its effects, which may help skin tone appear more even. However, when the disease halted in progression and only some white patches are left without color, or if the vitiligo is of segmental type, newer surgical modalities of treatment will help to regain lost color and lead a normal life. Lasers like excimer can also help in repigmentation of refractory white patches or help to fasten repigmentation in otherwise responding vitiligo patches.
